About The Hague School
The Hague School is an independent high school dedicated to the development of character and academic achievement through a college preparatory curriculum grounded in collaborative discourse. Small by design, we offer personalized instruction and unique student opportunities in preparation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme offered in the 11th and 12th grades. Read about our Mission and Vision.
Under the guidance of master teachers, students engage in self-directed learning through threshold concepts and create powerful and productive habits of analytical and critical thinking designed to carry through each student’s college and graduate education.
At The Hague School, there are no rows of desks.
“Both of our kids have thrived at THS in ways they hadn’t previously. Knowing what we know now, we feel as if we’ve found independent education’s most obvious open secret: the Harkness method builds incredibly adept and independent critical thinkers, and THS is the singular leader for the application of Harkness in the Hampton Roads area. We can’t imagine sending our kids anywhere else.”
